Library Assistant I/ Library Assistant (Collections and Technical Services) – Library
(Ref: LAI/LA (LIB) 2022-08-12)

Responsibilities
  • assist in the acquisitions of e-resources and other library materials;
  • manage license issues, update records in SFX KnowledgeBase and troubleshoot the access issues;
  • collect data, analyze usage statistics and prepare reports for the e-resources management;
  • liaise with faculties and vendors, in relation to setting up trials, acquisitions, and training;
  • assist in collection development activities;
  • contribute to library-wide events and activities; and
  • perform shift duties at service counters.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a recognized university degree and the Certificate for Library Assistant, or equivalent;
  • have experience in library materials acquisitions and access management;
  • have experience in managing e-resources life cycle and related systems (such as Discovery Tools, Link Resolvers, EZProxy, ERM, and Integrated Library Systems);
  • preferably have knowledge in bibliographic standards such as AACR2, RDA, LCSH, and MARC21;
  • have good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to manage complex tasks at high level of accuracy; and
  • have positive customer care attitudes, self-motivated to work independently.

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings and on weekends. Applicants with work experience in the higher education sector will be an advantage. Applicants with less experience will be considered for the post of Library Assistant.
