Library - Library Assistant (Outreach and Public Services)
(Ref: LA (LIB) 2025-04-25)

Responsibilities
  • manage library services such as circulation and outreach activities;
  • perform shift duties at service counters to assist library users in the use of library services, equipment and facilities, answer general enquiries, handle loans, collect fines, facilitate room booking and other daily routines;
  • support public services including communicate with users on Library regulations, maintain patron records, organise library collections, arrange book stacks, handle document delivery services;
  • assist in organising library events (e.g. provide logistics support, prepare publicity materials and manage event archives);
  • monitor the accuracy and consistency of information in all records; collation and compilation of statistical data for utilisation reports; and
  • assist in library tours, orientations, events, user activities and special projects.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a higher diploma or above qualification, or equivalent;
  • have experience in providing circulation and information services in an academic library, skills in graphic design and website development will be an advantage;
  • have good command of both written and spoken Chinese and English;
  • have good interpersonal and organisational skills; and
  • have positive service attitudes and the ability to multi-task.

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings, on weekends and public holidays. Work experience in the higher education sector will be an advantage.
