Library - Library Assistant II
(Ref: LA II (LIB) 2025-11-28)

Responsibilities
  • research and design exhibitions and support promotional efforts for outreach activities, guided tours, and events;
  • assist in digitisation and archive initiatives, including metadata processing, scanning, OCR tasks, metadata import to ArchivesSpace platform, and organising/boxing materials;
  • carry out basic preservation and conservation treatments, including freezing and surface cleaning of books, and monitor environmental conditions in the Special Collections room;
  • assist in delivering user support, managing clerical tasks, and managing student helpers; and
  • perform library counter duties during assigned shifts.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a higher diploma or above qualification, preferred with prior experience in an academic library;
  • possess a qualification in library science or archival studies is advantageous.
  • exhibit good communication skills and a service-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal capabilities, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;
  • be proficient in MS Office and Chinese word-processing software
  • be familiar with image editing tools, such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud is advantageous;
  • possess a good command of English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); and
  • demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational abilities, and a responsible work ethic.

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings, on weekends and public holidays.
