School of Business – Part-time Instructor(s) (Action Learning and Experiential Teaching)

Responsibilities

The appointee(s) will support pre-launch faculty development for the new MBA (in Chinese)

programme by designing and delivering workshops on action learning and experiential teaching (e.g.

case-based, project-based and reflective learning) for colleagues who will teach in the programme.

  • plan and deliver faculty development workshops that introduce and strengthen participant-centred approaches in postgraduate business teaching;
  • model interactive, discussion-based and project-based teaching in Putonghua, and guiding faculty through practice activities;
  • provide pedagogical coaching and feedback on teaching plans and practice (e.g. teaching clinics observation and consultation;
  • assist in develop and adapt practical teaching resources (simple guides, templates and rubrics) for MBA (in Chinese) delivery; and
  • work with the Programme Director and relevant units to ensure the training aligns with programme needs and timelines.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a doctoral degree in Education (Higher / Tertiary Education), Business, Management or a related field;
  • have solid tertiary-level teaching experience, preferably at taught postgraduate, MBA and/or executive education level; experience in training or mentoring other teachers will be a strong advantage;
  • demonstrate strong pedagogical and facilitation skills, including designing learner-centred sessions, leading and synthesising discussion, and using questioning and feedback effectively with adult learners;
  • have excellent command of Putonghua, with the ability to conduct interactive workshops and demonstrate classroom facilitation in Chinese; the ability to also deliver workshops in English and to work with English-language materials is an advantage;
  • show ability to design assessment for active learning, such as participation and reflection tasks and project evaluation; experience integrating ESG, sustainability, ethics or responsible management themes is preferred;
  • bring a combination of business/management understanding and pedagogical expertise (for example, professional or teaching experience in business plus experience in higher-education pedagogy or staff development); and
  • be able to commit sufficient time for preparation and delivery of the workshop series within the agreed timeframe.

Workshops may be offered in intensive Saturday–Sunday blocks in Hong Kong, on weekday sessions, and/or via a hybrid format (online sessions plus a final face-to-face workshop), subject to mutual agreement.

The appointee is expected to assume duty in Semester 2 of AY2025/26. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin soon until the position is filled.  The University reserves the right not to fill the position in this exercise.
