School of Communication – Technical Officer
(Ref: TO (SCOM) 2026-04-30)

Responsibilities
  • support lab-based teaching and learning activities, such as facilitating the use of multimedia and AI tools for content creation and post-production in both traditional and emerging fields like XR and Virtual Production;
  • manage and assist the ongoing development of lab and studio facilities, including TV studios, radio broadcast laboratories, post-production suites, and equipment for immersive media workflows such as LED volumes and motion capture systems;
  • produce creative multimedia content and support various promotional events, with an emphasis on content incorporating AI-enhanced tools, such as Runway or Adobe Firefly, and manage multimedia pipelines for branding and educational content;
  • deliver technical support for events, including live, hybrid, and virtual productions, such as conferences, award ceremonies, and public lectures, ensuring seamless operations with emerging cloud-based media workflows; and
  • set up and introduce the School's facilities and resources for guest visits, including showcasing cutting-edge demonstrations of immersive technologies and AI-driven innovations in media and communication.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a recognised bachelor’s degree in multimedia technology, electronic engineering, communication, computer science, or a related discipline;
  • have 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the tertiary education sector or an academic/media production setting;
  • have experience in operating computer lab facilities and/or media production studio facilities, including XR/Virtual Production environments;
  • demonstrate hands-on experience in AI-enhanced media production tools, such as Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, and Runway;
  • have strong skills in creating and editing audio-visual and graphical materials, including those for 2D and 3D productions, with proficiency in tools such as Adobe Premiere, Devinci Resolve, and After Effects;
  • have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua);
  • be creative in audio-visual production, with knowledge of live-event production tools;
  • be a good team player and able to work independently, showing a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and creativity; and
  • be willing to work on night shifts, hardworking, self-motivated, responsible, and detail-minded.

Knowledge of generative AI technologies, immersive content production (AR/VR/MR), Blender, Autodesk Maya and emerging virtual production systems will be a definite advantage. The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours.
