Library - Assistant Librarian II (Research and Learning Support)
(Ref: ALII (LIB) 2026-07-31)

Responsibilities
  • provide research support services to students, academic staff, and researchers at various stages of research life cycle;
  • plan, develop and deliver library instruction, orientations, workshops, and other learning activities to support information literacy, research skills, and the use of academic resources;
  • support scholarly communication and research-related initiatives, open access, and related advisory services as appropriate;
  • liaise and collaborate with academic departments and library colleagues to identify user needs, promote library services and resources, and support teaching, learning, and research activities;
  • assist in the development, evaluation, and promotion of library resources, guides, and learning materials;
  • assist in supporting and developing the Research Information Management Platform (HSUHK Scholars) and various research abstract and citation databases and relevant tools; and
  • participate in other duties assigned by supervisors to support the Library’s overall goals.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a recognised bachelor’s degree with a postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Science, or a research postgraduate degree or an equivalent discipline;
  • have at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in academic Library, preferably in research support, information literacy, reference services, or scholarly communication;
  • have sound knowledge of research support services in various stages of research life cycle under AI era;
  • have the ability to design and deliver user education, workshops, and instructional materials for students and staff in both face-to-face and online settings;
  • have strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with a good command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Putonghua would be an advantage; and 
  • be proactive, service-oriented, and possess the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and respond effectively to evolving academic and user needs.

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings and on weekends. Work experience in academic libraries will be an advantage.
