Finance Office - Assistant Manager, Financial Planning
(Ref: AMFP (FO) 2026-09-11)

Responsibilities
  • serve as a finance business partner to designated Schools, centres and administrative units, providing timely advice and support on budgeting, financial planning, management reporting and other finance related matters;
  • build strong working relationships with budget holders and stakeholders to understand their operational needs, translate financial information into practical insights, and support informed decision-making;
  • develop and maintain financial models to support feasibility studies, programme planning, knowledge transfer initiatives, self-financing activities and other new opportunities;
  • work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely and user-oriented financial analysis, forecasts and management reports;
  • provide proactive recommendations to improve operational workflows, internal controls, policies, guidelines and financial processes from both Finance Office and user-department perspectives;
  • prepare monthly and quarterly financial and management reports, variance analyses and commentaries for management review and stakeholder discussion;
  • assist in budgeting, resource planning and financial projections of the University and /or any School, centre, and administrative unit;
  • support the implementation and enhancement of finance systems, including budgeting, planning and reporting modules, and help users adopt related processes and tools effectively;
  • liaise with internal and external auditors, tax advisors and any relevant stakeholders; and
  • implement and promote internal control policies and procedures in accordance with University policy and guidelines.

 

Applicants Should
  • be a qualified accountant with a recognised bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related disciplines;
  • have at least 8 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably in the tertiary education sector or Big 4 accounting firms, with solid exposure to business partnering, financial planning and analysis, management reporting, and budgeting;
  • demonstrate strong business acumen and the ability to engage effectively with academic and administrative units, understand their operational priorities and provide practical financial advice;
  • possess strong analytical, financial modelling and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders;
  • be a proactive team player who can handle duties under tight deadlines, manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to ad hoc requests;
  • demonstrate strong attention to detail, integrity, professionalism and a service-oriented mindset;
  • possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and work collaboratively with stakeholders at different levels; and
  • be proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Knowledge of Oracle Fusion would be an advantage.
