Student Affairs Office – Senior Student Counsellor
(Ref: SSC (SAO) 2026-09-18)

Responsibilities
  • lead and coordinate a professional team providing counselling and SEN support services;
  • provide psychological counselling services to undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the assessment and management of complex cases;
  • serve as a key liaison with faculty members, academic departments, administrative units and external stakeholders in coordinating support arrangements and interventions for students with complex support needs;
  • provide professional consultation and psychological support for students with SEN presenting with psychological, behavioural or adjustment needs;
  • design and deliver programmes, training and workshops to promote mental wellness, resilience, inclusion and personal development; and
  • contribute to campus-wide initiatives to foster a supportive, inclusive and mentally healthy campus environment.

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a recognised master’s degree in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work or a related discipline, with formal clinical training and supervised practice;
  • possess a professional qualification and/or membership of a recognised counselling, psychology or mental health professional body in Hong Kong or overseas, and adhere to the relevant professional and ethical standards;
  • have a minimum of 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience in counselling, preferably gained in tertiary education, youth services, mental health or related settings;
  • have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); and
  • possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to engage effectively with both local and non-local students.

Appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours. Experience in delivering training, workshops or wellbeing programmes will have an advantage, particularly in areas of mental health awareness and early intervention. Experience in supporting students with mental health concerns, special educational needs (SEN) or other complex support needs will also be an advantage.
